Welcome to The Blue Bridge Blogs live coverage of Chelsea Vs Tottenham. A London derby at Stamford Bridge to finish of an eventful day in the Premier League, what more do you want?
First up, it’s the team news. As expected Chelsea remain unchanged from the side that has produced six wins on the bounce. Spurs make a few changes amid injuries and a suspension to their defensive cover.
Chelsea (3-4-3): Courtois, Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill (c), Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Diego Costa, Hazard
Spurs (4-2-3-1): Lloris (C), Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Wimmer, Wanyama, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Kane
It’s been a really exciting day in the Premier League already, with a 9 goal thriller at the Liberty Stadium. Can we expect to see some similar action at the Bridge? Less than 15 minutes left to find out …
Warm ups done, tactics memorised and ready to kick off the saturday evening… it’s Chelsea against Tottenham!
Players enter the center circle and exchange the traditional handshakes. The crowd are in full voice, much to the appreciation of the Chelsea players
🕕 Kick Off –
Chelsea get us underway!
Confident start from Spurs, as they try to put Chelsea under pressure early on. However, Chelsea remain resilient after a few Tottenham buildups around their box
Alonso gives away a needless free-kick just outside the box. Spurs starting to gain momentum.
6′ – 😥 OFFSIDE!
Harry Kane has the ball in the back of the net, but the assistant referee rules it offside. Correct decision. Early warning signs are here…
Relentless attacking intent from Spurs. Chelsea seem to be half-asleep at the moment. I’ve also kept my eye on Costa, who seems frustrated with every challenge with a Spurs defender … worth keeping your eyes on him
11′ – ⚽ GOAL! Chelsea 0-1 Spurs (Eriksen)
Eriksen scores! An absolutely great goal. Son picks the ball up in space and lays it into the path of Eriksen, who punishes the Chelsea backline spectacularly. Son was also fouled in the process. Game On!
Chelsea have not had any sort of possession. This certainly does not look like a team that was top of the premier league last weekend
18′ – ⚠️ YELLOW CARD! (David Luiz)
Luiz is first in the book. Needless foul, but a correct decision by the referee.
23′ – 😥 OFFSIDE!
Chelsea playing a deep game, with Spurs capitalising at every chance. It seems Chelsea need to reshuffle and get a hold of the ball.
Some moments later, Hazard is caught offside. The good attacking move was initially started by Alonso
26′ – ⚠️ YELLOW CARD! (Dembele)
Dembele is the first Spurs player in the book, after deliberately taking down Moses.
Chelsea are finding some rhythm
Spurs looking the much sharper team, despite the demoralising ejection from the Champions League midweek.
However, Chelsea are slowly starting to claw their way back into the game
Spurs with a number of chances to double their advantage. However, none come to fruition.
Chelsea look lacklustre and out of ideas. Conte, on the sideline, seems furious!
45′ – ⚽ GOAL! Chelsea 1-1 Spurs (Pedro)
What a goal! Chelsea clearly not at their best today, but their wide man Pedro produces a moment of absolute magic. Cutting in outside the Spurs box and curling the ball behind Lloris, Pedro puts Chelsea Level.
🕕HALF TIME: Chelsea 1-1 Spurs
A half of mixed emotions, but Chelsea are some how level with Tottenham. Although they have been the second best team in the first half, the goal from Pedro deserves some ovation. Chelsea are known to get progressively better during the second half, but can Spurs deny them the chance to get the better of them?
All set for a suspenseful second half …
Quite a quick start from both sides. Both teams creating some problems for their retrospective defences, none have come of any concern though. On the other hand, the tension from the crowd is brewing.
51′ –⚽ GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Spurs (Moses)
A sublime run from Costa, who whips the ball across an empty Spurs defence. Moses, unmarked, runs in and smashes the ball into Lloris. The ball then latches onto Vertonghen, who can’t do anything but deflect the shot into his own goal.
Great turn around from Chelsea!
Chelsea are in a very serious mood in this second half and look very hungry for more goals! Both wing-backs are causing some real problems for the Spurs backline.
65′ – 🔁 SUB: Son off, Winks On
This game is turning into a real end to end battle. Both teams constantly at each others throats. A great blockbuster for the neutrals watching.
Spurs make the first change of the evening; and it is a very reserved change with Winks coming on for Son.
73′ – 🔁 SUB: Alli Off, Nkoudou On
Spurs make another change. This time it’s Alli going off. Pochettino taking a more defensive approach as the match is nearing it’s closure.
Meanwhile, the tempo of the game has slightly gone down a notch.
76′ – 🔁 SUB: Hazard Off, Willian On
Hazard goes off to a standing ovation from the Chelsea Crowd. Not one of his best displays, but a really hard worked one indeed. First from the home bench; Willian sprints on to the field to join his team.
80′ – 🔁 SUB: Moses Off, Ivanovic On
Conte reverts to defend this small lead, taking their second goalscorer of the night (Moses) off.
Both teams doing well to cause a difference. Chelsea allowing Spurs possession, only for themselves to counter.
83′ – 🔁 SUB: Pedro Off, Oscar On 🔁 SUB: Dembele Off, Janssen On
Strange string of substitutions from both managers.
85′ – ⚠️ YELLOW CARD! (Willian)
Great way to announce your presence. It’s Willian who goes into the book after a cynical tackle on Winks.
Chelsea still create a few good chances late on, against a really tired looking Spurs defence. Midweek fatigue kicking in possibly.
We also nominated Moses as our Man Of The Match, who has had an excellent game tonight.
🕕FULL TIME: Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham
A brilliant end to end game. Despite their strong start to the game, Spurs could not hold onto the lead. Spurs journey in the Champions League and their unbeaten run in the Premier League, unfortunately, comes to an end. Chelsea based on the second half performance, deserve the win.
Thanks to those of you that joined us here tonight to follow the game. The London derby, and more prominently the Premier League, leaves us here tonight feeling rather overwhelmed. Goodnight!
